Campion Platt Book Signing: March 2012

Campion Platt Book Signing: March 2012

Steve Bedford, Henry Brown and the crew welcomed over 100 guests to the unique Greenhouse setting at Bedford Brown for the Campion Platt personal appearance, lecture and book signing this past Saturday, March 3rd. Campion heads the international architecture and design firm “Campion Platt Interiors”. Campion has recently been named by Architectural Digest as one of the “100 top Architects and Designers in the world”. Campion jetted from Manhattan to Portland on Friday evening and stayed at the fabulous ‘Small Luxury Hotel’ Modera in downtown Portland. Taking a streetcar tour of the city on Saturday, Campion walked the Pearl district, shopped the iconic Powell’s Books and spent part of the morning with his sketchbook at the Chinese Gardens—then lunched at Kenny & Zuke’s Delicatessen. Our time at Bedford Brown started with tasty hors d’ oeuvres from Nancy’s Kitchen and a wonderful white wine from the boys at “Liner and Elsen” Wine Merchants.  We chatted with friends from the Portland and Seattle design community as well as some clients who just flew in from warmer climates. Campion was interviewed by Portland Monthly (See the Portland Monthly blog) then proceeded to give us a captivating lecture that encompassed his world travels, celebrity client projects, his beautiful wife Tatiana plus three children, his luxe New York “pied a terre” and stunning Palm Beach manse. His new book “Made to Order” is a must for your design library—we had several personally inscribed as gifts for friends. We asked Campion to sign several more books that are now available—so dash over to BB and get one for your collection! The preface in Campion’s book was written by his famous friend and client, author Jay McInerney, who said: “I discovered that Campion was almost obsessively concerned with fabrics and finishes, which resulted in a very visually rich environment.”  This exciting event is the third one of the Bedford Brown “Speaker Series”. We would love to have you join us for this fascinating series featuring noted Interior Designers from across the country, so if you are not presently on our email invitation list, please send us a request today.

Matthew Patrick Smyth Book Signing: September 2011

Over sixty guests gathered to hear Matthew Patrick Smyth’s presentation at Bedford Brown on Saturday, September 24. Matthew and his partner, Author Jean Vallier, traveled to Portland from Manhattan to spend a few days with us. They enjoyed delicious dinners at several of our great restaurants, toured the Washington Park rose gardens as well as the Japanese Gardens.  Our seminar started with a cocktail hour where we had some fascinating conversations with Matthew and Jean.  In his talk Matthew shared wonderful stories about each of the projects featured in his new book ‘Living Traditions.’ This lavishly illustrated book makes the perfect gift for the holidays—Matthew autographed copies for our event attendees and then some for Bedford Brown to have on hand if you missed the event.
